*********
Nancy and Ginger Livingston are
a mother and daughter team who, with a passion for fine food, and a desire
to spend as much time together as they can, decided to team up and start a
Personal Chef Service almost two years ago.
As a child, Nancy grew up near New York City and starting eating at all the
City’s finest restaurants at a very young age. And, a love of food began.
Nancy’s Mother, Father, (who was also a fine cook) Step-Mother and Mother
in Law all started teaching her to cook at age 18. Her mother -in-law is a
traditional Southern cook. They taught her all of their culinary expertise
with much patience. And, she in turn taught Ginger. Hence, the name “Just
Like Mom’s”
Ginger started cooking family meals once a week at the age of 7. She made
sure that there was something on the table that everyone would eat and made
her grocery list accordingly. Nancy did the shopping and supervising.
Ginger will be 24 years old this year and has a Residential degree in
Interior Design and has just bought her first home.
Nancy married at a young age and also has another daughter (who does not
like to cook at all!) She is a Photographer and is two years younger than
Ginger.
Nancy stayed at home with the kids for 7 years then began a job with Public
School System for 10 years as an Office Manager. She had a staff of 35 and
did payroll for 135 teachers and kept all of the school records. Nancy
prepared and helped to plan many school functions. Her principal used to
always ask for her leftovers if she supplied the Tupperware. Several years
ago, she left to spend more time with her parents and realized that the
family as whole spent much time in the kitchen together! Before he passed
away, Nancy and her father would watch the food channel during the day and
plans meals together.
As far as their business goes, Ginger is currently in charge of Recipe
Development and Nancy does most of the marketing and networking. Their
website is actively marketed and in the past several months they have sold
many out of state Gift Cards to local friends and family members of the
callers. Nancy and Ginger each have their own Cheffing Kits and have their
own weekly clients. When scheduling allows, they do enjoy cheffing
together. They also offer Nationwide Recipe and Menu Consulting and Private
Cooking Instruction in the client’s home. They hope to expand their
business in the future by hiring other chefs.
