*********
Personal Chef Douglas
Beavers, owner of Leave It To Beavers-Personal Chef Service, has
enjoyed cooking since he was just tall enough to see over a
stovetop. His very first childhood culinary creation was a hot dog
roasted (charred) on a fork, over the burner of the gas stove.
Before deciding to make a career out of foodservice, Chef Douglas
spent fourteen years as a computer professional. After being laid
off in 2001, he enrolled in a Professional Culinary Institute to
turn his love of cooking into a career. Chef Douglas knew before
attending school that he did not really want to work the “typical”
restaurant hours, so being a Personal Chef and working for himself
was what he wanted to make a reality. Becoming a member of the
Personal Chefs Network in May 2002 was the best decision of his
culinary journey to date. Attending the PCN convention in Houston
is what helped him to jump-start his very own Personal Chef
Business.
Chef Douglas received his break into the business by being hired
to do an elegant dinner party for six people. This nine hour event
from start to finish ended with complete success, and he was
called back to do a similar party just two months later! With a
few more dinner parties under his belt, he finally got the call to
cook on a bi-weekly basis for a family right in his own
neighborhood. His business continues to grow, and he thoroughly
enjoys cooking in a variety of kitchens and making the lives of
his clients more enjoyable is very satisfying to him.
Personal Chef Douglas Beavers is also very involved in charitable
contributions. When a friend of one of his dinner party clients
had back surgery and became bed ridden for six weeks, Douglas
donated his services and prepared twenty meals for her family at
their home. He also donated his service to aide in raising
donations for the Chicago’s Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. One of
his latest contributions will be to the Jewish Family and
Community Service in Chicago, which will hold its Annual Benefit
and Auction in December 2003.
Chef Douglas resides in the beautiful city of Chicago with his
lovely fiancée, Mary. They are planning their wedding for Oct. 25,
2003 – right around the corner! The couple has several pets
(Gabby, Neo, Pinky, Scorpio, Buster); poor Gabby is the only dog
amongst a sea of cats.
