*********
This months Pacesetter Chef is Christy Allan from Applegate, CA. She says she been cooking since her Mother put her on a step stool at age 2 to help mix up biscuits. She remembers her first pie was made from lemons from the back yard. Being a native Californian she has been exposed to just about every culture of food there is and loves cooking every one of them.
Some 20 years ago after her folks passed away she relocated with her husband and 4-month-old son to Applegate, a small town of 300 to be near her husband’s family. She purchased and ran the one and only store bar and deli in town for 10 years. Not yet ready to retire she began searching for something else to do. She spent 4 months looking for the right career and her love of cooking always came to mind. She found Personal Chefs Network, which at that time was in its infancy stage. After a few conversations with the co-founders Sharon and Wendy, and using the open forum, she knew she had found a new career and a new family. Before she was an official member of PCN and had a business license in her hand she had 3 clients lined up and still chefs for them some 3 years later. She does business as Christy’s Culinary Creations.
When not cheffing Christy enjoys cooking in her own kitchen. She lives on 9 acres that has a 30-tree orchard, 7 varieties of grapes and a full garden. Though the store bar and deli are now closed, neighbors, friends and family still stop by daily to see what's cooking. "I have a huge audience of taste testers" she laughs "and love every minute of it."
As in the field of dreams, she believes "Do what you love and they will come." Personal Chefs Network has become a second family to her and encourages anyone who thinks being a “Personal Chef” might be an option for them to please go for it.
She would like to thank her family, friends and every single member at Personal Chefs Network for her continued success at doing what she loves.
