*********
Davona was born and raised in Southeast Missouri. She and her identical twin are the youngest of five children and growing up in the South their life revolved around food. Davona’s family owned two restaurants and a produce farm and today she can’t even get an herb garden to grow so she definitely did not inherit her father’s green thumb. Looking back it never occurred to her that those childhood days of family dinners, fresh fruits, and vegetables would later be the source of her passion for cooking. Cooking today for Davona is a lot different from growing up with Fried Pork Chops and Fried Potatoes. Her updated version is Broiled Pork Chops w/Thyme and Apricot Glaze and Gourmet Mashed Potatoes but their origin is definitely Southern and a part of her childhood.
Davona has been married to Mark for almost 19 years; they are considering renewing their vows next year (20 years) because their anniversary is September 11th and that date will just never be the same to anyone. Davona has two children James 15 and Madison 5 (no it wasn’t planned that way) and both her children are passionate cooks. Her son plans to work as a Personal Chef while attending college.
Davona says there was a long chain of events that led up to her decision to become a Personal Chef. She had traveled internationally and was fascinated in different food cultures and began cooking different dishes and experimenting on family and friends. She considered opening her own restaurant but decided she did not want the administrative hassles. When she saw the Personal Chef program profiled on television a few years ago she knew that was what she wanted to be when she grew up, A Personal Chef!
After changing jobs to be closer to her children Davona also decided that it was time to do the one thing she had been waiting years to do. She researched the Personal Chef industry and soon found that Personal Chefs Network was very much like her own family and since that was where it all began it felt like going home again.
Today Davona has a full Client list and considers her cooking “therapy that pays.” She plans to leave her corporate job after the first of the year and will spend more time testing new menus and spending time with her family. She is serving Shelby County, TN and Desoto County, MS
