Norie Berndt
Chef’N Personal Chef Service
When she was nine years old, Norie’s favorite TV stars were Julia Child and The Galloping Gourmet. But it wasn’t until later in life that she became comfortable in the kitchen. Julia Child said, “I never cooked until I was 36. Up till then I only ate.”
In 1999, Norie entered San Jacinto Collage School of Culinary Arts to pursue her passion for cooking and her dream of becoming a chef. After she graduated with a degree in Culinary Arts she has continued her education with studies in Nutrition.
After joining Personal Chefs Network, Norie launched Chef’N Personal Chef Service in July 2000. She has been successfully serving hungry clients in Pearland and the surrounding areas ever since. Norie’s culinary training and experience in the kitchen has led to many exciting opportunities working with well known chefs such as Tyler Florence, Martin Yan, Dorothy Huang and Steven Raichlen in addition to the many other talented cookbook authors and local chefs in the Houston area. Norie is also a culinary instructor at the Pearland Community Center, Central Market Cooking School, and Fitness Solutions.
Norie is an active member in The Texas Restaurant Association and the International Association of Culinary Professionals. She is also a member of the Pearland Chamber of Commerce and is the Recipe Development Coordinator for the Personal Chefs Network. And just this past April Norie was honored at the Golden Whisk Awards as Personal Chef of the Year 2003! Norie is generous with her knowledge of food, cooking, and nutrition and continues to expand her education and develop new recipes. Norie hopes to publish her first cookbook soon.

Norie's Acceptance Speech:
Being with all of you for our 3rd Annual Convention has been a fabulous experience. Meeting new friends and seeing old ones is always my favorite part of these trips. I’ve learned so much about cheffing and I know you have all learned too. I hope in the future we all continue to learn and grow together. There are so many members of PCN that have been such a large part of my life and I’m not sure I can ever tell them how much they mean to me. I want to thank Sharon and Wendy for believing in me and always being there to lend their support and advice. Without their love and commitment to PCN and the personal chef industry, none of us would be where we are today.
So many members of PCN have been inspirations to me not only in my professional life but in my personal life as well. Peg N., Sue G., Brent E., Laura W., Marcy K., Lynn U., Ina K., Roxanne Y., and Antonette W. and the Houston Chapter of PCN, I can never thank you enough for your friendship and support. You guys are my rock. I have also had the honor of being a mentor to many budding personal chefs and I have cherished the time we’ve spent in the kitchen or on the phone. I hope to continue to share my love and knowledge of personal cheffing for many years to come.
I want all of you to know how touched and honored I am to be selected by YOU for this award. I was so surprised and happy to find that so many people recognized me for doing what I love and loving what I do. Congratulations to all the other award winners and especially Jewels for being voted as Newbie Personal Chef of the Year 2003. You have come so far in a very short time and I’m so proud of you. I wish you continued success in the future.
How fortunate we all are to have the opportunity to make a living by doing what we love to do. May we always share in the joy of ~Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Personal
Cheffing~.
