Personal Chef Sharon Worster
CEO, Personal Chefs Network

Brent Evans
President, Personal Chefs Network

Chef Sharon Worster

Sharon Worster became a Personal Chef after reading an article in "The Houston Chronicle" about a Personal Chef servicing the other side of Houston. The article was about how a chef turned her passion for cooking into a small business cooking for busy families. The article inspired Sharon to give her a call and she knew she had found her calling. She phoned the chef to ask questions about the industry and discover how she too could turn her passion into profit. She started Neno's Personal Chef Service in The Woodlands, Texas and has been very successful. Her marketing plan turned up three new clients the very first week she began her service and she has never looked back.

Sharon worked in the medical field for 17 years as a nurse, working hours and hours for someone ELSE! After a stint in working in a hospital, she became the practice manager for physicians and spent a decade running physician practices. She left her hometown in Kentucky when her husband's job landed her in Texas. She knew she did not want to work for someone else because of her entrepreneurial spirit. Both of her grandmothers owned their own businesses and were a great inspiration for her, and like them, her love for cooking was beyond measure. She had always looked over their shoulders in the kitchen and her parents are both great cooks as well! Her Daddy has successfully passed the secret family recipe for homemade pizza on to Sharon. She also credits him for her awesome gravy making skills and homemade biscuits while her mother taught her the secrets of skillet cornbread and homemade cobblers.

With her nursing background, caring for and helping others is not new to Sharon and her love for business and cooking jelled perfectly. An autodidactic chef, she began mentoring other personal chefs while she was still learning herself. She has been able to combine her passions to develop a professional organization for other passionate cooks just like her. She met PCN Co-founder, Wendy Perry, online! They began swapping recipes and discovered they had many commonalities. Their cooking philosophies were similar and their creative talents and business directions were the perfect combination and Personal Chefs Network® was born.

"Developing Personal Chefs Network® was a HUGE endeavor," says Chef Sharon. "I knew what we needed from a professional organization and decided that PCN could offer the best personalized support for Personal Chefs anywhere!" "Working as a Personal Chef, I am never far from helping others find a solution to a question in the field since I am actively stirring the pot in my own client's kitchens and my business background allows me to help others realize their dream."

Sharon also has other streams of ideas that allowed her to join up with Brent Evans to form The Jewelry Kitchen (www.TheJewelryKitchen.com). Brent and Sharon realized the need for kitchen and culinary themed jewelry and set out to fill the niche in the market. They now have artists in various locations making custom items, imported pieces, and homeland products as well. The Jewelry Kitchen features fun jewelry, paper items, magnets, key chains, stamps, and hand made chef inspired cards that are perfect for the culinary graduate or that special cook in your life.

On December 9, 2005 Sharon became CEO of Personal Chefs Network when she purchased Wendy Perry's half of the company. Wendy is still an active member at Personal Chefs Network and is growing her own new companies. You can visit her website at http://www.WendysHomeEconomics.com. December brought a familiar face back into the PCN kitchen when Sharon announced Chef Brent Evans had been hired as President of Personal Chefs Network. Brent Evans

Unlike so many in this industry I did not grow up watching or helping a parent cook, and have perhaps just a dozen recipes handed down to me. My interest has always been providing and teaching the best customer service that I can.

My food experience is mostly restaurant-based. I worked for a company in Cleveland which had many food service divisions: fine dining, gourmet market, corporate catering, upscale café and fine catering. I spent time in all of these, and more, working both in the kitchen and directly with customers.

Like many restaurant people I moved around, always wondering if it might be better to work for myself. I would stand in the grocery store with a basket on my arm thinking, "What's for dinner?" I noticed that there were a lot of other people doing the same. The difference was that I knew that I could 'cook' dinner. What I saw so many others do was grab a ham steak, a potato to microwave and a bag of salad greens. They were fixing dinner, but they sure weren't cooking!

In 2001 I took the plunge and opened Brent Evans Personal Chef Service in Columbus, Ohio. With the help of Sharon Worster and the great Personal Chefs Network members I grew my business until I was cooking 4 or 5 days per week. No nights! No weekends! How great is that for a restaurant guy?

I appreciated what PCN was giving me, and in return I started doing some volunteer work. I answered emails from aspiring members. I created and moderated the first Marketing Forum. I became the unofficial back-up guy for Sharon and her then-partner, Chef Wendy Perry. And I loved every minute of it. PCN had done so much for me that I was happy to spend my time helping others.

In December of 2005 Sharon asked me to take an official position as President of the company. It took about 5 seconds to realize that there was no down-side to the proposal and I have never looked back.

My job here is to help you, whether you are an aspiring member or a five-year veteran. I believe that my success is defined by yours.

As always, please let me know if there is anything that I can do for you.
